New Desire/St. Thomas Housing Redevelopment of low income housing in major metropolitan areas across the country has become a primary goal of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In New Orleans, these two projects represent the first significant steps in this process and PMC was on board for both. In the case of St. Thomas, the cost resulting from the original mechanical design was out of budget and the design was ultimately scrapped. PMC was hired to perform design/build HVAC and plumbing services within budget in a constrained time frame. The first phase of the New Desire Project was value engineered by PMC, allowing the mechanical work to be done in budget. We are currently working on providing both design/build and value engineering services for several more projects like these.
