Hilton Garden Inn - CBD

Objective: Carve out a hotel in an existing CBD Building on Floors 11 through 18 with very limited access and no room to crane equipment to the roof.

Solution: Fly a helicopter over the CBD on a quiet Sunday morning lifting 12 pieces of equipment, some in excess of 8,000 lbs. to the roof in less than 3 hours.

This 155-room hotel is a classic example of how design/build can impact a project – speed, economics, ingenuity, success.

Chateau Sonesta

Originally designed using a chilled water system, the Chateau Sonesta Hotel was to occupy the old DH Holmes Dept Store Building on Canal Street. In danger of not being built because of budget limitations, PMC was given the job of value engineering mechanical systems to meet budget and improve chances for development. Today, 10 years later, the Sonesta chain is still proud of the economics and performance of the mechanical systems in this building. PMC still has the property under a yearly service contract. Our experience with service costs has been so good that we have not changed the annual service fee since the end of the first year of operation.
